RE:  Families receive choice through new Executive Order as decisions on masks and quarantine protocols shift to parents.

In our best effort to comply with the latest recommendations of the TN Department of Health and TN Department of Education in regards to Governor Lee’s Executive Order, the following revision has been made to our COVID-19 policy, effective today, August 20, 2021.  Lexington City Schools will continue to identify potential exposures and notify health department officials, but the health department will be the sole authority to quarantine students and staff.  Students who have been identified as a close contact, but not showing symptoms, will be allowed to continue in-person learning.  They will, however, continue to be evaluated for good health.  If the parent/guardian chooses to keep their child at home, they will receive excused absences for days missed and will be allowed to make up all assignments.

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to closely monitor their child during the recommended quarantine period and notify the school immediately if their child develops symptoms and/or tests positive for COVID-19.

This is yet another adjustment for families and school districts as we navigate this pandemic keeping the best interests of families, staff, and community members at the forefront.
