We will begin construction Monday, Nov. 3, on our long awaited canopies over our dismissal areas. This construction will occur in two phases and will require changes in our student drop-off and dismissal areas as well as to our traffic flow. Detailed information about all phases of construction went home with students today. Please ask for this and read it carefully.
PHASE 1: (NOVEMBER 3-11, 2014) Construction will take place over the walkways from the street to the building at the south end (National Guard Armory) of the school where the 6th grade students dismiss each afternoon. This phase of the construction will not affect drop-off procedures in the mornings, nor will it affect dismissal of 7th and 8th grade students. However, in order to keep students away from the construction zone, 6th grade students will exit the building in the afternoon from the doors by Mrs. Brooke Britt’s classroom at the end of the Fine Arts hallway. This will require 6th graders to be picked up in the same location as usual, only a little bit further toward the gym parking lot. 6th graders will return to their normal pick-up procedures on . **Information about Phase 2 of the project will be posted closer to .**
LMS Parent/ Guardian of a rising 7th Grader:
Tennessee State Law says that ALL students entering 7th grade must have an updated Official Certificate of Immunizations (PH-4103) documenting that they have had a dose of tetanus-diptheria-pertussis ("Tdap") and Varicella booster vaccinations (the vaccine against chickenpox) if they have never had chickenpox. This certificate will need to be completed and signed by your child's health care provider administering the vaccinations. Exemptions are only allowed for religious or medical reasons. A sample of the certificate is included on the back of this letter.
To comply with state laws, we ask that you submit the completed certificate to the school nurse, Teresa Morris, on July 30, registration day. Students may be kept out of class if they do not meet the state requirements.
We urge you to take care of your child's immunization needs now; don't wait for the rush! The health and safety of your child is important to us! If you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us. Learn more about the vaccine requirements online at http://health.state.tn.us/CEDS/required.htm orby contacting your healthcare provider or local health department.
