Canopy Construction Information
***Canopy Construction Information...Please Read!!***
PHASE 1: (NOVEMBER 3-11, 2014) Canopy construction over the 6th grade dismissal area by the picnic tables will be completed today. 6th graders will return to their normal pick-up procedures on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
PHASE 2: (NOVEMBER 11-30, 2014) Construction will take place over the walkways along the sidewalks outside of the gym entrance where students are dropped off in the morning and where 7th and 8th graders dismiss in the afternoons.
Morning Drop-Off Procedures During Construction: In order to keep students away from the construction zone, all students should be dropped off at the back of the gym where they will walk down the sidewalk to the back door of the gym and enter from that point.
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures for 7th Grade: 7th grade students will exit the building each afternoon during this phase of construction by going through the gym and exiting out the back door of the gym and down the sidewalk. 7th grade parents should pick their students in this area, just to the north of the construction area.
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures for 8th Grade: 8th grade students will exit the building from the doors by Mrs. Brooke Britt’s classroom in the Fine Arts Hallway and walk to the right, across the grass, to the sidewalk just to the south of the construction area.
Traffic Flow During Phase 2: Traffic should flow as usual, with only the pick-up areas a little farther out, unless the road closest to the gym is blocked. In that situation, traffic must be routed through the back of the gym parking lot. This will cause congestion and delays…please be patient with us if this occurs and keep the safety of our students and teachers in mind!
Pick-Up for After School Practices, Detentions, MLLs: Basketball players will exit practice out of the back gym door. Band members will exit out of the Fine Arts hallway. Detentions, MLLs, drama club, and cheerleaders will exit from the back lobby doors or from the front circle drive.
Parking, Entrance/Exit for Home Basketball Games: It is possible that some of the parking areas in the gym lot will be taken by construction equipment. We will try to keep this at a very minimum. Unless otherwise noted, entrance to home basketball games will still be at the gym entrance. The construction company will take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and our visitors. We ask parents and visitors to make sure children are accompanied and closely monitored any time they are in the construction area and that children NOT be allowed outside during ballgames unless accompanied by their parent. We are not anticipating any changes in ballgame parking or entrance during construction; should that be required, any changes will be announced in advance.
Thank you so much for your patience as we go through this much-needed construction project! It will be so nice to have out teachers and students out of the rain during dismissal! All construction should be finished and drop-off/pick-up should return to normal by the day we return from Thanksgiving break onDec. 1, 2014.
