School-Wide Positive Behavior Support
|
 |
SWPBS is a team-based proactive systems approach
for creating and maintaining safe and effective learning environments evidenced
by positive social cultures and behavioral supports for all students.
The focus of SWPBS is schools developing, implementing,
evaluating, and sustaining a three-tier model of teaching and prevention that
includes primary preventions, secondary preventions, and tertiary interventions.
Critical elements of SWPBS
include
(a) achievement of valued and desired outcomes
(b) adoption and sustained use of
research-validated practices
and curricula that
maximize achievement of student and
teacher
outcomes
(c) team-based application of data-based
decision making at
many levels
(d) development of systems (e.g., processes,
routines, working
structures,
administrative supports) to sustain achievement
of valued and desired outcomes
