Standard Dress Attire Policy
2010-2011

Shirts – Students may wear golf-polo shirts (no zippers) and button-front shirts in the following colors (red, black, white, navy blue, pink, light pink or hot pink) will be permitted. Only the top 2 buttons may be unbuttoned.
1. Must be solid colored, are to have a collar and be of the appropriate size.
2. Shirts may be long or short sleeves.
3. Boys’ shirts must be tucked in and remain tucked in at all times.(This does not apply for grades K-2)
4. K-8 girls are not required to tuck in shirts. Shirts must be below the waist and skin not exposed when arms are raised. Shirt length must not extend beyond the hips. Shirts worn untucked must be fitted.
5. There are to be no logos, writing, or pictures on the shirt other than the official school mascot, school logos, or emblems which have been approved by principal or Director of Schools.
6. 6-8 Students may wear long or short sleeved white tee shirts or turtlenecks underneath the approved golf or button-front shirt. (K-5 students may wear approved colored tee shirts or turtlenecks underneath the approved polo shirts.)
7. Tops and bottoms must be contrasting colors. No same color combinations.
Sweatshirts/Sweaters-Students may wear (red, black, white, navy blue, or pink) solid colored pull over v-neck or crew neck sweaters, sweatshirts, sweater vest, or sweatshirts vest over the approved shirts stated above. (For LMS students white t-shirts or polos in approved colors. For CES students, any approved colored t-shirts or approved polos.)
1. Pullover sweaters, sweatshirts items are not be hooded or contain buttons or zippers.
2. Pullover sweaters or sweatshirts are not to be tied over the shoulders or around the waist.
3. There are to be no logos, writing, or pictures on the shirt other than the official school mascot, school logos, or emblems which have been approved by principal or Director of Schools.
Pants/ Capris for girls/Below the Knee pants for boys- Students may wear solid colored khaki-colored, black, or navy blue pants (hemmed or cuffed) of a cotton blend must be worn, fitted at the waste line.
1. Low-slung, baggy-seat, baggy-legged, or bell-bottom pants are not permitted.
2. K-2 – Denim is permitted.
3. Grades 3-8 – Jeans or jean-type khaki pants are not permitted
4. No rivets on pants.
5. Cargo pants, carpenter pants, or overalls are not permitted.
6. Pant legs can not be rolled up at any time.
7. There are to be no holes, rips, tears or markings. Any patches on pants must be the same color as the pants
Shorts – Students may wear solid colored khaki-colored, black, or navy blue will shorts of a cotton blend. Grades 3-5 may not wear denim shorts.
1. K-2 –May wear shorts of appropriate length in approved school colors and denim.
2. Grades 3-5 – May wear shorts that come to the knee.
3. Grades 6-8 – No shorts are permitted.
Skirts/Dresses - All skirts/dresses must be of a cotton blend in a solid school approved color (red, black, white, navy blue, pink, light pink or hot pink).
1. Skirts/dresses must be knee length or longer without slits rising above the knee.
2. Leggings or tights in the approved colors may be worn with skirts/dresses.
Belts–
1. Are to be worn through the belt loops and buckled.
2. Students may wear solid brown or solid black belts with a plain buckle that does not exceed 1 ½ inch in width. Belts are not to have any writing, design or logos.
3. All boys are required to wear belts.
4. Girls must wear belts when clothing is designed with belt loops.
5. Grades PreK-2 - Belts are not required.
Footwear– Shoes are to be worn at all times.
1. Dress/casual shoes, sandals, or athletic shoes are to be worn and properly fastened.
2. Flip flops and boots may not to be worn due to safety.
3. Shoes may be worn with heels not taller than 1 ½ inches.
Coats/Jackets–
1. All outer wear is to be removed and put in the locker or designated area during the school day.
2. Large, oversized coats/jackets or trench coats are not permitted within the school building.
3. Coats and jackets must not have drug, alcohol, gang related, gambling, or other such messages or pictures.
Appropriate Headwear to be worn by students–
1. barrettes
2. headbands
3. ponytail holders
4. bows
5. Any other head wear is not permitted.
