Lexington City Schools uses a system of positive behavior supports at both Caywood
Elementary School and Lexington Middle School. School Wide Positive Behavior Supports
or SWPBS is a team-based proactive systems approach for creating and maintaining safe and
effective learning environments currently being implemented in over 7,000 schools in 37 states.

SWPBS is a team-based proactive systems approach for creating and maintaining safe and effective learning environments evidenced by positive social cultures and behavioral supports for all students. The focus of SWPBS is schools developing, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining a three-tier model of teaching and prevention that includes primary preventions, secondary preventions, and tertiary interventions.
