Teacher Leaders

Teacher Leaders

Our Teacher Leaders for 2016-2017 are PreK teacher Denise Pyburn and 5th grade teachers Vicki Jones and Natalie Udovich.  Our Teacher Leaders collaborate with other highly effective teachers, building level administrators, and district personnel to develop and facilitate professional learning for all teachers.  Our Teacher Leaders help develop teacher instruction to improve student outcomes, build relationships with teachers rooted in student achievement, and promote a culture of reflection, growth, and collaboration.

Vici JonesI have been teaching at Caywood Elementary since 2007. I have taught third grade (in self-contained and departmentalized classrooms), fourth grade science and social studies, and am currently teaching fifth grade math. This year I was selected as a Teacher Leader. As a Teacher Leader, I collaborate with other highly effective teachers, building level administrators, and district personnel to develop and facilitate professional learning for all teachers. I also help develop teacher instruction to improve student outcomes, build relationships with teachers rooted in student achievement, and promote a culture of reflection, growth, and collaboration.

Prior to teaching in public education, I was a corporate trainer for various corporations in Texas and had the opportunity to travel the world.

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University. I am married to David Jones. We do not have any children but have a very spoiled cat. I enjoy spending time with family and friend, riding my motorcycle, RVing, and flying our airplane.

Natalie UdovichI have taught at Caywood Elementary for 3 years, and prior to that I was in the Jackson Madison County school system.  Reading is my passion and I have taught 5th grade my entire teaching career.  Before I came to Caywood I worked for the non-profit organization The Star Center in their learning lab/education department.  They are a wonderful organization that helps all people with all abilities reach their full potential. As a Teacher Leader, I work closely will all teachers, but my focus is on 3-5 reading.  I piloted the reading curriculum we use and have been available to assist the other teachers in its adoption. I also collaborate with all of the various level administrators, and district personnel to develop and facilitate professional learning for all teachers.  I assist in developing teacher instruction to improve student outcomes, build relationships with teachers rooted in student achievement, and promote a culture of reflection, growth, and collaboration. A continued focus of mine is helping others incorporate technology in their classrooms now that we are a 1:1 district.

I was born in Southern California and was raised mostly in the Midwest. I received my undergrad from the University of Memphis, and my Masters from Ashford University. I have lived in Tennessee most of my adult life and am raising my family in Jackson.  My husband and I have 3 boys.  Tyler 13, Nicolas 10, and Miles 3 are the highlight of my life and definitely keep me on my toes.  We are a ball playing family and with the two older boys playing travel baseball, we are often on the run! I wouldn't have it any other way.
